Estimators, valuers and assessors
Estimators, valuers and assessors plan and undertake the calculation of probable costs of civil, mechanical, electrical, electronic and other projects, estimate the value of property and chattels, and investigate insurance claims to assess their validity and to assign liability.

Task-by-Task Breakdown
Every task scored individually — sorted highest to lowest AI exposure
prepares comprehensive estimates of time and costs and presents these in report or tender form
AI can generate structured cost reports and tender documents from input data using tools like Microsoft Copilot integrated with Excel and Word, significantly reducing manual compilation time while humans review and validate outputs.
examines plans, drawings, specifications, parts lists, etc. and specifies the materials and components required
AI tools like Autodesk Construction Cloud and PlanSwift can parse drawings and specs to extract material quantities, but human expertise is still needed to interpret ambiguities and apply contextual judgment.
assesses costs of materials, labour and other factors such as required profit margins, transport costs, tariffs and fare structures, possible hazards, etc.
AI tools such as Procore and CostX can rapidly aggregate material costs, labour rates and logistics factors from live databases, though human judgment is required to weigh risk factors and apply project-specific context.
examines insurance documents to assess extent of liability and gathers information about incident from police, medical records, ship’s log, etc. and investigates potential fraudulent claims
AI can cross-reference insurance documents, flag inconsistencies and identify fraud patterns using tools like Shift Technology, but gathering evidence from third parties and applying legal judgment still requires experienced human assessors.
assesses condition, location, desirability and amenities of property to be valued
AI-powered platforms like Rightmove's valuation tools and Zoopla's AVM can analyse comparable sales and location data, but physical inspection and nuanced local knowledge remain essential for accurate property assessment.

This is not a pay rise — it's 864 hours of productive capacity that AI could return to you, valued at your current rate.
The portion of your current salary tied to tasks AI can automate or augment. Not a prediction of job loss — a signal of where your role is changing fastest.
How is this calculated?▾
Task weights — each task is weighted by its O*NET frequency rating. Where frequency data is absent, equal weighting is applied.
AI time reduction — tasks scored as "AI Automates" assume 80% time saving; "AI Assists" assumes 40%; "Human-Led" assumes 5%.
Salary equivalent — annual hours saved × (salary ÷ 1,800 working hours/year).
Value at risk — salary × share of role time in AI-automate or AI-assist tasks.
Figures are indicative estimates for planning purposes, not guarantees of productivity gain or job loss risk.
